Commodore Pat Tyrrell OBE RN (Retd)

Chair of the SIA Advisory Board, Senior Non Resident Fellow Global & Maritime Security

Born in England, UK national. CDRE Tyrrell served in the Royal Navy for 26 years and saw service in submarines as a Watch Leader and Intelligence Co-ordinator, both with the RN and RAN before moving to an analytical appointment in the DIS (UK Defence Intelligence Staff). He served on a number of key NATO committees as the representative of the United Kingdom. Later appointments included the position of Commandant of the Defence Intelligence and Security School based at Chicksands. CDRE Tyrrell is Director of Vale Atlantic Associates which specializes in the provision of high-level, strategic consultancy in a number of fields including cyber warfare, security, intelligence analysis as well as current research in technologies applicable to defence and in the intelligence world. He holds the Order of the British Empire, a Master of Arts degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Laws.
